Emergency organizations and emergency response

In the U.S. and around the world there are a large number of humanitarian organizations helping millions of people each year to prevent, prepare for, and cope with unexpected emergencies. Some of these agencies include:

Many of these types of organizations are called upon to set up emergency shelters for housing, food storage and distribution, medical supplies storage and distribution, and emergency medical care.
