General Metalith FAQsTo get answers to the most frequently asked questions about our Metalith™ perimeter security barriers and walls, please select one of the links below:
How do we know what height and thickness of the Metalith barrier walls we will need? Our designers and engineers work with interested Metalith purchasers to specify a perimeter security barrier that is ideally suited for your needs. We use a standard rule of thumb that the height cannot exceed two times the width for any configuration. Our minimum size configuration is 3 feet thick and 6 feet high and our largest is 8 feet thick and 16 feet high. Your application and your needed perimeter length will determine your exact Metalith dimensions. What information is required for quotation development? If you are requesting a quote, Infrastructure Defense Technologies will require the following information:
How do we order Metalith perimeter security barriers and walls?Submit an inquiry with your perimeter security barrier requirements. We will respond within 24 hours with a quote. We only require a written P.O. that meets Infrastructure Defense Technologies' terms and conditions. We will provide a written acknowledgement of your order. How are the Metalith walls and barriers shipped? The Metalith perimeter security barrier panel shipments are shipped on space efficient pallets needing only a small footprint. Steel panel bundles weigh between 3,000 and 6,000 pounds typically. Custom bundles are available, as we have shipped bundles weighing 8,500 pounds. Will they fit on military 463L pallets?Absolutely! Many of our orders have been for rapid deployment forces. To accommodate the military's need to be able to drop this material from a C-130 or C-7 military transport planes, our Metalith barriers and wall products can be configured to ship on standard 463L pallets. Are your perimeter security barriers U.S. Department of State K12 certified?Absolutely. Please go to our K12 Crash Test FAQS for more detailed information. What is your average lead-time?We can ship our standard Metalith panel systems with 24 hours notice. Custom sizes and custom finishes may require up to six weeks for shipment. What are your standard payment terms? Our standard payment terms are 2%, Net 10 days, or Net 30 days subject to credit approval. Ask about our Payment in Advance Discount Program! Is the Metalith barrier wall manufactured in the United States?Yes, the Metalith anti-ram vehicle barrier walls and our blast mitigation walls are manufactured in Chicago, Illinois. How long does it take to erect the Metalith system walls and barriers?Based on our own barrier wall erection projects and those of the U.S. military, a good rule of thumb is 1.5 linear feet can be erected, per man-hour, for a 16 foot tall wall. Does Infrastructure Defense Technologies offer technical assistance to help end-users with problems? We certainly do. Infrastructure Defense Technologies is staffed with both engineering personnel and individuals with decades of metal wall design experience. If you have a problem, give us a call at 1-800- 621-5617 and we will be glad to help you with your problem. Our engineers and design staff coupled with our technical support personnel will gladly assist you to solve your unique blast protection and anti-ram barrier application problems and then make the products you require. We can provide personnel to train your staff or construction contractor on the job site how to correctly erect the Metalith perimeter security barriers in the least amount of time. What finishes are available for the Metalith system walls and barriers? We utilize Coranar™ finishes, a Kynar-based coating, to satisfy virtually any end-user needs. These finishes not only improve the architectural look of the product, but they also provide virtually maintenance-free, long-life, finishes. Do your anti-crash and blast mitigation barriers offer any optional features?Yes, we offer an anti-climb feature to make scaling the barriers more difficult and we offer an optional protective roof covering. Can you describe your anti-climb option? The Metalith barriers are offered with an anti-climb feature that provides additional security as well as pleasing aesthetics. The anti-climb feature consists of vertically corrugated sheets that are fastened to the structural substrate. The product is available in a variety of metals, paint systems, and colors. Coupled with our anti-climb option, the Metalith perimeter security barriers will help keep intruders out. Can you tell me a little more about the Metalith barriers roof option for weather protection?Yes it can. The Metalith anti-crash and anti-blast barrier units are offered with an easily installed roof feature. The roof option prevents moisture absorption by interior ballast materials, and therefore prevents increased hydrostatic pressure on the structural members. The roof option is recommended in areas with significant amounts of annual rainfall. Why can't we just use a shipping container and fill it up?With all the transportation hubs and seaport and port authorities having access to thousands of shipping containers, this is a logical question. However, while the outward appearance of some shipping containers and some finish options of the Metalith physical security barriers may be similar, that's where any similarities and ability to function as a blast barrier or crash barrier end.
